Mr. Loo Cheng Guan, Chairman of Blue Ocean Capital Partners, founded the firm in 2005 to provide consultancy services in the areas of strategy, corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Loo has more than a decade of experience in M&A, private equity and investment banking.

Mr. Loo currently sits on the board of Valuetronics Holdings Ltd, an SGX-listed electronics manufacturing services company, as an Independent Director. He holds board seats at several other private companies – including 1Rockstead GIP Fund II Pte Ltd as Chairman, Fortrec Chemicals & Petroleum Pte Ltd, Amalgam Capital Partners Pte Ltd and Brash Asia Pte Ltd. He also advises Grandblue Environment Holdings Ltd on investments in the renewable energy sector in Asia.

Mr. Loo has served as Managing Director at two reputable funds, managing more than S$300 million in assets under management. Mr. Loo has a wealth of investment experience and networks across various industries in Singapore and China, ranging from retail, food & beverage and healthcare, to media and entertainment, resources and clean energy.

Mr. Loo was formerly a Principal at Advent International Corporation, one of the world’s leading private equity houses with over US$6 billion in capital. He was Head of Corporate Advisory and M&A at Mitsubishi Securities (Singapore) and Deputy Managing Director at Nomura Securities in Malaysia.

Mr. Loo has previously sat on the boards of a number of listed companies in Singapore, China and Canada. These include Advance SCT Ltd, MAP Technology Holdings Ltd (where he was an Independent Director), Grandblue Environment Holdings Ltd and Blackbird Energy Ltd (as a Non-Executive Director).

Mr. Loo holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree (with Honors) in Economics from Monash University in Australia.


Daniel is an Executive Director of boutique Mergers & Acquisitions advisory firm Blue Ocean Capital Partners.  He started with Blue Ocean in 2009 as an Associate Director, overseeing all legal due diligence matters. 

Daniel is also an Executive Director of Singapore-listed company Viking Offshore & Marine Ltd.  He is the Managing Director of Viking’s wholly-owned subsidiary Viking Asset Management that acquires and charters offshore and onshore assets.  His work includes acquiring a 1,500 hp train-type land rig that is in a long-term charter with a Pakistani conglomerate, operating in Morocco, Africa.  Daniel is also the Managing Director of another wholly-owned subsidiary Promoter Hydraulics that designs, builds, tests and delivers bespoke winches and power packs.  Under his leadership, Promoter has delivered more than $20 million worth of products to international shipyards and ship and rig owners.

Prior to Blue Ocean, Daniel was the Special Assistant to the CEO in Singapore-listed company Advance SCT Limited.  His work included corporate finance, helping the Company raise S$50.0 million in a secondary placement exercise.  He was also involved in institutional fund-raising, having travelled to the US and Europe to meet with institutional investors.  He also helped the Company start and operate a new joint venture partnership in Monterrey, Mexico.

Daniel sat on the board of Singapore-listed company Nico Steel Holdings Ltd from 2009 to 2016 as a Non-Executive Director.  He has also been serving as a Non-Executive Director of Singapore-listed company Ann Aik Ltd since 2012.  Daniel was also a member of the Finance Committee with the Singapore Institute of Directors 2010 to 2012.  He graduated with an honours degree in law in 2007 from Bristol University, United Kingdom.
