PETER LAI, CHAIRMAN

Peter Lai has more than 36 years of experience in the financial industry including central banking, investment banking, private banking, stockbroking and asset management. He holds a MA degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge in England (1983), and a CFA charter holder from the CFA Institute, USA (1992).

He currently sits on board of Champ Buyout III, which is part of the Australian CHAMP Private Equity that manages a substantial buyout fund from institutional investors.  He also holds the position of Executive Director of Riverside Asia Partners in Singapore, a US based private equity asset management company. Peter is active in both professional, corporate governance and community activities.

He has sat on boards of more than 20 listed companies in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the UK over the past 20 years, mainly as lead independent director and chairman of audit committee.  His current professional engagement includes being editorial board member of the CFA Digest and inquiry panel member of the Singapore Law Society.

 

LOO CHENG GUAN, FOUNDER & ADVISOR

Cheng-Guan is both Founder and Managing Director at Vermilion Gate. He has over 20 years, built up a wealth of experience in M&A advisory, investment banking and private equity, as well as a nexus of regional connections that cuts across various industries in SEA and China.

Prior to founding Vermilion Gate, Cheng-Guan was Executive Director/Group President of C&G Environmental Protection Holdings Ltd., an SGX-listed waste-to-energy investment company. Before that, he has held CEO positions at Tembusu Partners, F&H Fund Management and Blue Ocean Capital, as well as senior executive positions at MUFG, Nomura Securities, Advent International and Arthur D. Little.

In addition to his role in Vermilion Gate, Cheng-Guan chairs Rockstead Capital's GIP Fund II and Precursor Group, an accounting firm. He is also an independent director of Valuetronics Holdings Ltd., an SGX-listed company, and a board member of Fortrec Chemicals and Petroleum Pte Ltd and several private companies in Singapore.

 
 

REBEKAH LIN, DIRECTOR

Rebekah was Director (Business Development) at Tembusu Partners for the last 12 years, with experience in both the investor relations and portfolio management teams. She is also the country director for Nexus, a collective that unites next-gen philanthropists, impact investors and social entrepreneurs.

Rebekah is also Co-Founder of The Social Co., the team that brought together more than 100 individuals, 90 corporations and more than 250 partners to raise awareness of and funds for more than 50 lesser-known charities in Singapore. In total, they’ve raised almost $5 million and heaps of awareness via their different initiatives. She also runs Jia Foundation, which supports causes in the arts, mental health and elderly space. In 2020, Rebekah was selected to be an Arts for Good Fellow with the Singapore International Foundation. She was also chosen to be an Obama Leader (Asia Pacific) with Obama Foundation in 2022.

Rebekah graduated from Nanyang Technological University with an honours degree in Business Administration (Marketing) and has completed an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College, University of London and an MSc in Gerontology from King’s College London.

 

KIM YONG MOON, INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

Yong-Moon Kim has a 28-year career in international investing and finance in Asia, US and Europe. He serves as advisor to the Korea Internet Security Agency (KISA), the Korean government agency responsible for blockchain policy. He is also a mentor in the Korean Government’s KOCCA program and is advisor to government-incubated technology startups in Korea in AI, fintech and blockchain.

Yong was a co-founder of two investment management firms in Hong Kong, Tandem Investors, a hedge fund, and Qilin Capital, a boutique alternative asset management company. His past positions include Managing Director and Head of Global Equities at Credit Suisse Asset Management where he led a team of portfolio managers based in Zurich, London, Tokyo, and Singapore. He was also Executive Director of TCK in Seoul, a multi-family office managing fund of hedge funds in absolute return strategies, and Senior Advisor at TA Partners, advising large Asian institutional investors. His previous positions include: Managing Director and founding head of international investments at Mirae Asset Global Investments, Head of Institutional Equity Research at Shinhan Securities in Seoul, Senior Analyst covering Asia regional Technology, Internet and Telecom sectors at UBS Investment Bank, Portfolio Manager at formerly MJI (now Aberdeen Standard Asset Management).

Yong received a BA in Asian History with a parallel concentration in Computer Engineering, with a focus on Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence from McGill University (Montreal, Canada), and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Chicago, USA).

Yong is licensed by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) as a Responsible Officer (RO) for Type 4 (advising on securities) and Type 9 (asset management) regulated activities. He also qualified for NASD Series 2 and Series 65 in the USA.
